Dog Harnesses:
Bringing along your dog to the beach for sunrise or sunset shots, exploring forest trails, hiking up mountain trails or venturing out in the early morning city streets with him/her can be a very enjoyable experience. Keeping your dog safe and under control while away from home always takes precedence over making an image.
Even if you have a well trained and behaved dog around you home or local dog park, there are just too many oppertunities for something to trigger or upset your four legged friend that could result injury. Chasing after squirrels near a busy street or slipping down a steep hillside can make matters difficult.
Over the past two years I have found that a chest harness is the best way to keep your dog safe and secure. Initially I thought that just the regular neck collar was suitable but often when my dog would want to lead or would get excited she pull so hard on the lash that it would choke her neck. It was also somewhat difficult to guide her around fallen trees and ridge line trails.
After some research I came across the pet outfitter Ruffwear.com and ordered their Palisades pack for an upcoming road trip to California.
It quickly became apparent that the chest rig with its leash attachment behind her shoulder blades proved superior to the collar. It made controlling her easier and safer. The handle embedded into the harness has made it easier to help her in and out of vehicles, aircraft, streams, creeks, on and off boardwalks and over large driftwood trees etc.
If you currently or plan in the future to bring along your pet on your photo shoot outings I would recommend the following products to help better keep you dog both small or extra large safe until the arrive back home.
